Walking The Dog (featuring clarinet soloist Ros Cooper)

Walking the Dog is one of many musical numbers written in 1937 by George Gershwin for the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers film score for Shall We Dance. Gershwin's extended score runs to over an hour in length and took him several months to compose and orchestrate. In the film, this charming little song accompanies a sequence of walking a dog aboard a luxury liner.

Second Suite In F Movement 2 - Song Without Words

Composed in 1911, the Second Suite in F did not receive its first public performance until June 1922 when it was performed at the Royal Albert Hall by the Band of The Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall. It is a staple of the wind band repertoire and unlike its predecessor, the First Suite in E flat, it is based entirely on material from folk songs and Morris dances. A total of seven traditional tunes are incorporated in the four movements.

Mission Impossible Theme

Lalo Schifrin was born in Argentina in 1932. As a child he received piano lessons from the father of renowned pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim. In his mid-twenties, Schifrin formed a jazz orchestra that regularly featured on Buenos Aires TV. This led to many other film, television and radio assignments. His Mission Impossible Theme is, perhaps, the best known of his film compositions although many other films for which he composed the music include The Exorcist and Dirty Harry.

Sinatra!

2015 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Frank Sinatra, so this splendid arrangement of some of his best known songs is a fitting tribute. Stephen Bulla has created an arrangement that often replicates very closely the orchestral accompaniments with which we have all become so familiar. The four songs featured in this medley are: Come Fly With Me, Witchcraft, That's Life and Fly Me to the Moon.
