Sunday 4th February is a fantastic opportunity for you to to bring your wind instrument and play with Southampton Concert Wind Band and Meridian Winds, as well as being directed by the composer, Tom Davoren.

Tom is a composer and band director with a growing international reputation. Tom studied tuba with Nigel Seaman at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in composition having studied with Anthony Powers and Arlene Sierra at Cardiff University School of Music. His music for bands is premiered and commissioned the world over by artists including "The President's Own" United States Marine Band, Central Band of the Royal Air Force and Brass Band of Battle Creek.

Tom has conducted with distinction around the country. In 2015 he directed Maidstone Wind Symphony to the National Concert Band Championship title and was honoured to serve as conductor of the National Youth Brass Band of Wales in 2016. As MD he has established Bristol's Filton Concert Brass as one of the newest championship bands. He is currently Associate Conductor of the Fairey Band and has directed the brass band at the University of Salford since 2016.

9:30 - 10:00 Arrival, welcome and settling into positions
10:00 - 11:30 Calum Gray & Don Lloyd (MDs of SCWB and Meridian Winds) take warm up and sight reading
11:30 - 11:45 Break
11:45 - 12:45 Tom Davoren takes over the baton to introduce you to his music
12:45 - 13:30 Lunch (please bring your own)
13:30 - 15:15 Tom continues rehearsing his music
15:15 - 15:30 Break and time for friends, families and interested parties to arrive to hear the result of the day's work
15:30 - 16:00 Performance of everything that has been rehearsed

The cost of the day will be just £15 per person. Light refreshments will be available but you will need to bring a packed lunch. Free parking will be available on site at Mountbatten School.
